Anytime a major illness hits the family unit it changes everyone’s thinking and the way they act in and around your presence. It’s been said that it will bring a family closer or break a link in the chain and weaken what was once so strong.
In the beginning we were stronger than ever The illness came in like a hurricane and we stood tall and strong as it tried to rip apart a family. We persevered through the tears, the doubt, the fears and not knowing. We held each other up and were there for each other every decision, every step and for everything.
Maybe it was the grim reality of a death sentence we thought was knocking at the door at any minute, hour or day. Maybe we were strong in the face of death. But you’ve outlived their predictions and now you are just living however you feel like it and the choices you are making are feeling more and more selfish to us, maybe this is weakening the link. If you don’t care, why should anyone else for that matter.
We’ve respected your wishes and have backed you along the way, but now people are stepping aside and don’t even acknowledge your existence. I see your struggles everyday, I see your pain. Do you really see ours? Do you ever think your decision’s are affecting us? We are all going through this and even though it’s your journey we are also a part of that road you are on. Your decisions affect us too.
Seeing you weak and lost breaks my heart. You feel you are a burden and we shouldn’t have to be on this road, but here we are and God put us on this road with you. Trying to make life better for you and help you along the way does add some stress, some worries and fear, it’s called LIFE and here we are with this LIFE that we need to embrace. We need to stay strong for you, for each other.
