Signs

When someone passes away do you look for SIGNS that they are still around? Do you smell their cologne? Do you notice things were moved? Do you feel their presence? It’s hard to explain but somehow I am able to see the person who has passed away, it’s usually at the funeral home when the service is going on. Sometimes the person will visit my home, I can see them and sometimes hear them. This has been happening since I was twelve.

The first time I have ever seen what I’m going to call the spirit of the deceased, was when my grandfather died. He came to me that night and said, “goodbye honey, grandpa passed away tonight but I will always be with you”. Well, I was young and who was going to believe me if I had told them. I just kept it to myself and thought maybe I was dreaming, but I wasn’t he really had died that night and I knew it before anyone else.

When my mom passed away she came to my house and knocked on the door. Joe was there and he heard the knock and seen the headlights in the driveway. She was at the hospital and was near death when this took place. She said some words to me and then the lights faded away and she disappeared. The next day she passed away and there was snow flowing upward to the sky and it was her sign all was going to be alright.

I’ve seen people watching over their funerals and mingling with the crowd. I’ve seen some standing at the altar while the service is going on and they are smiling. I’ve also heard them speak in my ear softly. Well, yesterday I saw my niece at my brother-in-law’s side while he sang a song. She stood there and just looked at him while he sang. After the song was over she turned to everyone and the light just beamed from within her. She was so beautiful and peaceful that it made my heart fill with joy.

When we came home from the funeral the softball that has been in our china cabinet was sitting on the couch in Joe’s spot. He was shocked and asked if I had put it there. I of course did not touch it, it has been in there for three years and has not been moved since then. Of course I tell him it’s a sign from Amanda because you didn’t believe me that I seen her at the church. He still thinks I’m nuts.

So if you have lost a loved one or a friend just open your mind to seeing the signs that they leave for you. They are watching over us and staying close by. It’s such a blessing to see them, even if it’s for a short time. Enjoy your loved ones today.
